Mission Call!!

I figured that I should probably bust out a post in March, since a ton has happened lately.
I just had my birthday (3/22) about three days ago, and it feels awesome to be 19. I got my mission call at the first of this month, to the beautiful country of Roseville California. I was like sixes, whether I wanted to go foreign, or stateside, and the same with wanting to learn a language, but I figure, the less I have to learn about other stuff, the more I will be able to learn about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the only church with the restored Gospel. I also had the opportunity to go through the Idaho Falls Temple, which was very beautiful, and had a great feeling inside. Other then that, I still have work up until the week before I go on my mission, which is on June 3rd.

360 Fixed!

So over Christmas break I was at my cousin's house, and I noticed that he had an Xbox in pieces all over, I was like "what the"? He said that he got a new one, when his old one broke, and he tried, but he could not fix the old one. He being very kind, and generous (hope he reads this) offered me his old one at NO COST TO ME! Woo Hoo, can't do better then free, even if it is broken. Well anyhoo, I watched like twenty different youtube video's, to educate myself on how one goes about fixing an Xbox, and then I went to work. I headed over to Home Depot (on the list of top ten favorite stores) and started looking for some bolt's and rubber washers to remount the heat sinks. A couple very un-helpful people tried to assist me, and, a little frustrated, my little sister and I headed out. (It was Friday and she had school off, why not?) Then we headed over to Lowe's, a little less organized, but a little more selection, it took a bit to locate, but soon we had all the parts we needed, and an couple that we really didn't need. So when I got home, scrubbed off the old thermal paste from the heat sinks, and put some new stuff on, and then bolted them down. There was actually a ton more that went into it, and I really could add it, but it may become boring... Well anyway, the important part, I unhooked the fans and ran it until it over-heated and restarted it's self. Then plugged the fan's back in, and walah, fixed Xbox. Took some pictures so you could see the insides of it, and my fan that I stuck on top of it.The fan was actually like one of the hardest parts, I traced it out on some graph paper, and then busted out my Dremel. The problem is, it is kind of hard to cut a round hole with flat blade, but I figured it out, and made it all smooth and pretty. Well end of the story, it turns out that the new fan was mad loud, and it didn’t really need it anyways being remounted and all, so I just put it all back together without it.

Office Jokes

So working in an office, I thought of a couple things that would be funny to do to another co-worker, ok so there is only one for right now...
So my first thing that I thought would be hilarious is to take a picture of someone's screen with the "Prt Scrn" function, and then go into "my computer" and "hide desktop items", and then put the picture you just took as the background picture. Ah ya, I am busting up just thinking about it. This way, they could see the start menu, and all of the desktop icon's but it would be a picture so they wouldn't be able to click on anything... Well I thought it was hilarious anyway.

Oh, cool!

Ok so you can pretty much tell that I had some free time today seeing that this will be my second post today, but no biggie. So I was just kind of surfing around and I came upon this dude that is super talented at taking pictures check it out...

@ Work

So I wanted to tell you a little more about what I do at work, and when I say a little more, I mean for the very first time, I will tell you what I do.
So last year for my summer vacation I signed up to work at the site with my bro Jared Fielding. We both had different assignments, but we ended up working in the same cubical, ya I know, heaven on earth. We shared popcorn, talked to the same cute girl every day, and it was all hunky dory. Then we headed back to school. So this summer, I signed up again, as did he, but we had very different work locations... it really wasn't a big deal, but every other Friday, he had work and I did not, which kind of sucked. So now Jare is in collage, and I am still working at the site, at least until my mish.

So latest up date, now I am working in town on a "special assignment" which means if I posted what I did on here I would probably be terminated... Naw I am totally joking. As the bus transit system we are a very evolved section that is constantly updating the routes and runs that we provide for the employees of the site. So when upper management comes to see what we are doing all they see is a very complex system that takes many months to a few years to totally comprehend. They do not like this much power in the hands of just a couple people, so they are having us totally revise all of our routes so that every one can understand them, and to take away the job security of the people in charge. So at this point we are pretty much busting our buns to re-do what it has taken us years to prefect.

Lil Update

This is a continuation of “about me” as they did not give me quite enough room to write in my profile.

I think art is cool, and love to make 3D models on Blender (Blender.org). Mythbusters is one of my favorite shows, and I have never missed and episode yet. I like to go shooting, and finding new, single track trails, to “bomb down” on my mountain bike. My bikes include Haro aka “Black Beast” for down hill, Caloi aka my babe for up hill and cross country, and Specialized my feather light Carbon Fiber road bike. I also like just passing the time with friends and making some memories, usually funny. I like hanging with girls, but it always seems to get complicated. Also I am pretty tight with my family. We do a ton of stuff together, especially my dad, who also happens to be my car scrappin’ buddy. I worked construction, pouring concrete, for three years before this job, but it was a much appreciated change to come to the INL. This will be my second year working for the INL, in Fleet operations, where I am currently the Fleet Mascot, and computer relations guy. We are currently working on getting a GPS system on each bus. This will hopefully make everyone’s lives here quite a bit easier. After this I am planning on serving a two year mission, and then hopefully coming home to marry a smoken hott wife. I like to blow stuff up, but I try to it without getting into too much trouble. And that just happens to be pretty much all I can think of right now.

They also limited my favorite quotes section so I continued it here as well.

Spud Gun Accident

So it looks like it is time to release my much anticipated story about what really happened with the spud gun…
Every one got all packed up for their ten day trip, and headed out. I was sitting on the couch with Brielle, and I was like “ah man I wish it wasn’t Sunday so I could go and shoot off my spud gun today” and she was like “well maybe just once today before I head back to Rexburg” That is how we justified breaking the sabath day, because she was heading back, probably not the best idea ever. So we went outside, and we got it all hooked up, and I went to shoot it off the first time, but it didn’t fire, so I added some more fuel and it fired off just perfect. The second time I shot it, I only added two sprits, but after two or three click on the striker it went. Then I was like, so do you want to try? She was like “sure.” So I stuffed an apple down it, and she had seen how I did it, so I just stepped back and let her at it. I thought about telling her not to ever let both valves be open at once, or it could blow up, but I figured that she had seen how it was done. She added two sprits of gas, and clicked it about four times. It didn’t go. She went to add a little more gas, but when she did, both of the silver tanks exploded. The only thing I can figure is that when she went to open the far valve, she must have leaned on the front valve and opened it up a little, then when she opened the far valve it must have let a lot of gas in at once and also opened the tanks to the chamber, allowing all the gas to burn at once. Well she started jumping around, and she had a look of terror on her face, she was yelling something, but I could only make out mumbles. She said later that the ringing in her ears was what hurt her the most, and that is why she was jumping up and down and yelling. So I ran over to her and I was like “are you ok?” she was like “ya I am, but I can’t hear you very well.” She was burned on her face a little bit but it wasn’t too bad, then I saw her arm. It was split almost all the way from the elbow to the armpit. It wasn’t bleeding very bad, but I could see the fat and the muscle kind of sticking out, so I quick and put my hand over it, and said “don’t look, your hurt pretty bad.” Then we ran out of the field and I grabbed one of my shirts out of the garage and put it on her arm. She held it tight on there and I helped her into the van. We sped out of the driveway and headed for the hospital. I was going about sixty, and she calmly said “we have a pretty good reason for speeding, you can go a bit faster” So I stepped on it, and it turns out the max speed on our van is about 100 mph. On our way there, I called my parents and told them that they needed to turn around because we blew up the potato gun and Brielle was cut on the arm pretty bad and I was running her to the hospital. All they said is “are you serious?” I didn’t think I sounded like I was joking but I guess its always good to double check. We got there in about five minutes, which is about half the time it usually takes. I threw it in park, and helped her out of the van straight into the hospital. She was actually really cool about it on the ride over, I kept telling her not to look at it because I thought it would make her sick, but she thought it looked cool, and she was pretty calm for having her arm split open and all. So we went inside and gave them our information and then went into the nurses office and sat down. Bri took her bandage off and the nurse was like “oh girl, how did you do this” she gave us kind of a funny look when we told her it was a potato cannon. When I saw it I thought I was going to be sick, so I was relived when she said that she needed me to go to the waiting area. I just kind of sat there with my head down until my parents got there. I felt kind of sick about the whole thing, but I wasn’t really feeling guilty or anything because I knew it really my fault because I couldn’t have really done anything to prevent it except for not showing her on Sunday. It was kind of weird, because it kind of felt like it was suppose to happen. Like to teach us a lesson or something…I dono. So anyways, My parents got there, and went in to see if she was ok, and then went right back out to get the camera. A little while later my dad came out and got me, and said that Brielle wanted us to give her a blessing. We went into her room, and she was just kind of laying there, with little spots of blood from the PVC that hit her face and a big bandage covering up her arm, I just started crying. I can’t remember the last time I have cried, it has been years. So my dad and I put our hands on her head and he anointed. After that I blessed her and just balled through the whole thing. It was an amazing experience that I was way glad to be a part of before my mission. After that we gave her hugs and stuff and then I took the girls home. When I got home I went out and looked at the gun and I was amazed that we were both still alive. We found one of the tanks that had exploded like 100 yards away, and we didn’t even find the other one. There was a huge chunk out of the gun where one of the tanks had hit it with incredible force. There were parts and pieces of it laying all over the place. I left the gun there, and after giving proper thanks, went straight to bed. Pretty intense day to say the least.
I added some links here at the bottom to show you what happened with the gun, and also with Brielle. Some of the pictures taken of Brielle’s arm are a little graphic so some viewer discretion is advised. BRI and the Spud Gun
